It doesn’t look to me like a Hetchins; I expect it is a high-end Carlton or perhaps a Mercian–which are both fine bikes! I’d touch base with the Classic Lightweights UK website or with Hillary Stone, provide photos of each tubing junction (not just lugs, but also bridges, fork crown, and dropout transitions) and any stamped numbers you find. I wouldn’t be surprised if they could tell you that it’s such-and-such a bike, built on Tuesday, November 4, 1962 by Eddie Whosit. He was hungover that day, and his toe hurt, so he rushed it a little! Purchased new for 2 farthings and a hapenny by Vicar McMurty, who raced in the 1922 Milk Race and liked to diddle children in his spare time…

Really, the amazing support of the UK bike nerds is why I have so many Brit bikes!
