A friend asked me to service their bike. I did a really brief check and found the drivechain was completely worn out. Then I put it in the bike stand and saw this – this bike is toast in my opinion. I'm not overreacting am I?
Extremely dead, and looking to take your friend down with it.

Wow! The fact it’s so badly cracked, makes it really cool

Remove the fork now to prevent someone from getting any ideas about riding that

Don’t ride it if you value your teeth and vertebrae.

Not every day you see a headtube cracking from both ends! Things a timebomb.

Now your friend has a great frame to hang up as wall art

That frame is chopped & cooked.

If your friend is the original owner, Specialized has a lifetime warranty on the frame. Worth taking it to a dealer to see.
However, that bike needs to be sawed in half in order to prevent anyone from ever attempting to ride it again.

Don’t *think* about it any longer. Move forward *knowing* the frame is dead.

I know. My friend knew about it but didn’t tell me. I can’t believe it. I was gutted because I even started to look at parts to do a really nice job on his bike, but I cannot honestly put anything into this. It’s a new frame at least, but the components are barely worth salvaging. New / or second hand bike time I think.
