many of us are looking for that one bike that will do it all the question then is if you stick big mahusive tires onto an endurance road bike do you end up with a gravel bike or if you put slick gravel tires on a gravel bike do you have a road bike having climbed 1,500 meters in the french alps on a route that combines tarmac and gravel as well as being steeped in world war ii history we think we now have the answer but first speaking of history back in 2015 we made a video about a new and exciting type of bike with a really stupid name it’s a gravel bike cool idea we thought but with that name it’ll never catch on

My alloy road bike can't fit tyres more than 28mm….. stuck with that
You guys are wonderful.
Can I just say, as a long time enjoyer of GCN (and former GCN club member… thanks for the socks ;)) it is so good to see Lloydy back in the saddle!
Much love to the GCN team!
at last they both are expensive
Buying my first gravel bike tomorrow…so psyched.
Road bike and wide / slightly knobbly tyres is fine. ‘Gravel’ is just marketing.
All bikes can do all, how good is debatable
In 2015 I was in high school, doing a 300-mile bikepacking trip with my fellow boy scouts. Along the way, we met a guy with a gravel bike who was practicing for a trip from Alaska to Mexico. We thought he was crazy. But it's cool to see how right he was about gravel bikes!
Dan in a cycling video!!
They sold you cross again.
If I were spending money on a new bike tomorrow, I'd definitely go for a road bike that can accommodate wider tires. Better to have something that'll work well on one terrain, rather than have a bike that works best on none.
If you only have one bike then you have one choice and have one do it all bike
My all arounder is my Ridley X-Knight. Fits up to 40mm for off road. I put some 32mm on for road riding. The handling is a bit sharp for the road but it isn't too bad.
Surly Midnight Special. Sure it's not the fastest road bike, but it's quicker than you'd think AND you can run 3 different wheel sizes one just one frame. (26×2.5, 650b×60, and 700c×42).
Gravel is the best thing to happen to cycling in decades
the current road bikes can do it all now
Who the F is doing this?
You NEED an excuse to have multiple specialized bikes????
Oh the cost…oh well…progress blows I guess
Just sold my gravel for endurance bike.
I like to own 50+ cyclists with my normal bike.
May be cyclocross/RB if you switch tires, a gravel bike have a slacker higher BB geo frame. It's much closer to an xc mtb than a road bike. Or is it?
I just did things to my Trek Checkpoint SLR 5 that no bike should have experienced. I use her for Road and Gravel Riding, but now I used her for a ATV trail…..that was hell.
Yeah these two won't do it all because they are not road legal where I live. Plus they don't have a rack either.
I'm not super serious about this but these bikes are not really practical.
Potahtoh Potaitoh…..😂😂😂😂
Dan is looking like Si as if going "you never really did grow up, did you?" while Si is dorking around like a kid with a new bike.
A Specialized Roubaix does it all, fast on tarmac and copes fine with the gravelly bits in between. It's designed for the Belgian cobbles.
OL or All?
I have got a Colnago Prestige CX (cyclo cross last edition) and that thing does it all. Gravel, Road and Cyclo cross!
Let's not pretend there is a bike to do it all. Most people now think a gravel can replace a cross country MTB. It can not.
