I did my first trip for one night and I am pretty happy. The plan was to go with a friend but he cancelled last minute and I did I not want to skip it. 1st day was adventurous I would say as I also got lost in the forest but in the end reached to a very nice shelter to spend the night. Weird feeling to be alone in the nature but also quite beautiful. Had a hard time to sleep in the night too 😅 I guess you get used to it. The way back next day felt amazing and the route too. The set up worked also pretty good. Maybe I will add two small fork bags for extra space and for longer trips. Just sharing my story here.

Generally it’s illegal to set a tent up in a lean-to, but obviously that is dependent on your local rules.
Looks like a fun trip and nice terrain.
That looks very nice! Really cool that you went buy yourself even though your friend cancelled. I remember my first night in the forest, it was really quite weird but now I love it and it’s probably some of the best sleep I get!
I would also suggest to put the tent up outside the shelter so someone else can use it if they don’t have a tent.
Getting lost is quite normal I think hahaha, all part of the adventure!
