definitely a much harder experience than with 19t, pretty difficult to adjust to considering it barely spins the crank fully 💔. I hit 49kmph not that bad could hit 50+ last time on 14t. any tips are accepted if you guys have any ✌️
Unless you’re riding on a velodrome or have a tiny chainring, I would strongly recommend having a lighter gearing. Let’s assume you have a 49t chainring. With a 14t cog, your cadence will be 30 rpm to average 13.4kph. Don’t be an idiot – ride a reasonable ratio.
If you want to hit a higher max speed, learn to spin. You can easily hit 55 kph spinning at 150 rpm on 49×17
14t is a racing ratio.. if you arent hitting 40+ kph on average on the flats it might be too big.
regardless, if you wanna go for a big gear, i would NOT recommend jumping 5 teeth from 19 to 14 at once! that’s a recipe for knee injury. go down a tooth at a time, at most 2, ride it a few months, see how you like it.
i ride 50/17 and can hit 48 ish on downhills or in a dead sprint. if you’re only trying to hit high speeds for a short time you can do it on a much easier ratio and still remain comfy at lower speeds and on hills.

[use a calculator](https://www.bikecalc.com/archives/speeds-at-cadence.html)and figure out what ratio is right for you instead of pushing a stupidly high ratio that doesn’t fit the kind of riding you do
