That doesn’t look like a wheel that can be saved. I’d love to see a leaving the scene of an accident charge.

  2. That’s unfortunately probably toast. The only way to know for sure is to true it and check that the spoke tensions are within acceptable range. But it’s doubtful.

I’d say it’s on the fence. Worth a go, depends how much wheels are compared to a shop truing it. The buckle isn’t too quick but it is large.

Take it to your local bike shop and ask them. I’ve brought well back that are this bent but it’s not always given

Honestly I’ve seen wheels come back from similar. Try truing it back. If you get it straight without the spokes tearing the rim apart I’d run it

  6. It’s S shaped unfortunately that’s usually beyond saving unless you wanna have a shop try it but you’d def be paying if it takes an hour and they aren’t able to true it.

  7. You’re definitely going to want to take that wheel off and closely examine the fork as well as the wheel. If you have a spare wheel, slap it on that fork and see how it fits and responds. I don’t think we can judge the status of that wheel based on the video. See what a mechanic says.

On a side note, I’d speak to law enforcement to start a paper trail and put out feelers to find this e bike douche. He should be paying for these repairs as they are his fault.

Maybe when you’re at your LBS you can give them a description of the guy and his bike, see if they know him?🤷

Replace with a solid 32 or 36 spoke laced mavic open pros or similar. You might find 2nd hand. They can take a lot of abuse.

These don’t look like particularly expensive wheels, even if you can true them odds are it’s not going to be worth it.
Hope the fork is okay too

FWIW I took my wheel to a bike shop today. It wasn’t as bad as that and I still need to replace it. Sorry man.

  11. It’s cooked. Luckily decent QR rim brake wheels are a dime a dozen.

I had my road bike wheel tacoed by a driver a while back. Got a quote from LBS for a brand new replacement and labor to install, got the check from their insurance based on this quote, bought a replacement wheel for $15 from my local bike coop, pocketed the difference.

  12. You aren’t showing the side profile of the rim. If it isn’t bent you’re just looking at retrying the spokes. It looks like the one or more spokes are broken?

  13. Unless the rim is damaged it can be fixed. This does not look bad at all. Ridden home worse. I bet there are a few spokes to be replaced.
