MOTORBIKE CAMPING IN THE WORLDS SMALLEST TENT, ON A VISIT TO ROCOMADOUR FRANCE.

so i decided that, because i did have my tiny tent with me in north Africa but never got round to using it, that i’d pluck up the courage, and head for the stunning cliff hanging town of Rocomadour and have an overnight camping trip. Also just for giggles i put together a little tour of the town with a somewhat incorrect commentary. Enjoy.

do ants go to sleep i hope they do I did message my son and he said there’s monkeys in these woods I don’t think there is But I just say well if the monkeys there then maybe they’ll eat the ants [Music] Right Hello everybody Yes you might have noticed we’re on a little trip So where are we heading so we’re going to a place called Rockamador Um it’s about 80 80 90 miles from home but uh it’s one of those uh I’ll be putting a picture up here So it’s one of those sort of places that’s a bit of a pilgrimage place Um it was uh I say founded but it’s all linked to St Amodore Um but it’s it’s one of those places It’s a stunning place It’s built into like a cliff and it’s got um two sort of ancient Christian relics It’s one of that that sort of thing Um the first one being the uh the Madonna Um no not that Madonna Um this Madonna Um both probably act about the same Fairly wooden But uh I think the um the rocker Mador Madonna can probably sing but it hope she doesn’t She’s not a subscriber I’ve just lost her haven’t I damn Anyway so um yes the the Black Madonna um is there and that which makes you a bit of a pilgrimage site but there’s also this bell uh sort of miraculous bell uh that is said to ring when there’s um it’s all linked to to ships and sailors and uh when it uh when there’s a miracle at sea this bell is supposed to ring on its own allegedly But who am I to disbelieve that so we’re going to head there But what you can also probably see uh cuz I’ve stopped on the way and uh this beautiful little place I have no idea where this is This is uh well I’m outside Chappelle NRAAM Dupon Um but this is a beautiful little little hamlet and there’s a lovely river behind me But you might be able to see Oh thought a motorbike I got a sleeping bag Uh I’m hoping it’s not going to rain because it’s not covered Like I said I’m going to go camping I’m going to go camping for the night I took all the kit with me when I went to um Morocco and that and I never used it Can you hear all the frogs amazing the frogs So um I’m going to have a night’s camping I’m going to determine to use my kit I’ve got a little bit of food and my stove and all the rest of it Um I’m not quite sure whereabouts in Rockabador I know there’s a few campsites there but we’ll we’ll give it a go But uh I’ve got a roll but the uh the tent that I’m taking is the um snug pack uh stratosphere which is like a sort of sleeping bag tent thing Um you know I like a little bit of Jeopardy in my life I actually bought that secondhand and I never even opened it So it could just be a lot of old socks and some sticks in there for all I know But it’s in my PA It’s small Um so I might end up in a hotel if there’s nothing in the bag But let’s see what happens And uh it goes just please don’t rain It doesn’t say it’s going to rain but I’ve already had a couple of spits Um and I’ll have a very sleep wet sleeping bag otherwise Right Come on Let’s go [Music] [Applause] [Applause] competit I don’t know where the campsite’s going to be It could be anywhere Uh it’s saying it’s in one one mle I think I know where I’m going Never believe a man that says I think I know where I’m going Right we’re here It’s fantastic So I’ve parked the bike That’s gone a little bit too far there And I’m in an account called Lorac Now I looked on booking.com and it or whatever it was to start with It said it was full up but it’s empty I got it all to myself There’s no Well there is food I There’s crisps and snacks but I’ve got my little pod noodles So this is really great So I’ve got all this under the trees to myself This is mental So this is my first go at camping with a motorbike I’ve never done it before So um it might be very shortlived because um as we said there might just be some old socks and some twigs in that bag that the tent’s in So we’ll see But um the ground looks reasonably flat I got a little stone area there We do have a seat though Do you know what I mean but um don’t know I think it’s going to be really cool Right I’m going to uh get me jacket off and uh have a look at me tent I’m gonna have some water first and I’ll show you how it’s going to work Right this is it It’s small isn’t it it might just be Oh it could be anything Snug pack stratosphere Okay Just not even opened it Let’s have a look It could just be this couldn’t it it could just be that So we’re like very short people Yeah Should be easy to get away What I’m not going to do is do you know you see people attach things to their bike and I’m so worried that the bike will fall over and crush you in the night and then it’s good night Vienna isn’t it so let’s have a go So the time is see what the time is Time is 10 to 5 to 4 Let’s see how long it takes me to set this up Bad smile isn’t it come on guys You should be able to tell me what what’s the best way of doing it Should I have it in the little um in the little bed there i’ll make sure it’s completely under the trees and then I might move the bike around afterwards Let’s get any pebbles out the way It’s quite cool isn’t it right Luckily Luckily have you lost me luckily I remembered to bring some extra pegs but not think so So the way this works is sort of like a sleeping bag really I might have to put the bike there just to cover me modesty So it’s got sort of like a ting in it Okay That’s the big one at the end That’s big isn’t it just have a go Right I think there’s two of these but I don’t not entirely sure But it’s a nice day [Music] Do you think I should actually go and um I always think it’s nice doesn’t it go I need to look at a picture I need to look at a picture Right I can see my school boy era They spo They’re supposed to sort of crisscross over each other I’ll give you another go [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Well It’s quite mean isn’t it what do you think so that’s it So that is it basically I don’t think my roll mat’s going to go in there Yeah Do you think I’m going to fit in there holy smokes But it’s sort of like an emergency isn’t it oh I can sit on the rocks there That’s all right But I can do my my me my shnackage on the rock So that’s cool Right I shall put the rest of the stuff in Ta Look at that My little tent No I’m just glad there’s nobody else here They can mock me Come and jump on me the night Although anything can come over that wall can it how cool is that my massive space And I’ve got all the trees My lovely bike Oh this is really good This is way beyond my expectation Apart from the fact there’s nowhere to eat but I’m going to be making my little my little schnacks Right we’re fired up We got the stove going Awesome It’s a bit smoky but hey ho So tonight’s dinner is um Korean hot I didn’t mean to get those hot noodles but I got some like chicken noodles so I might mix them all together and it might just sort of like take the edge off Always a little bit All right I’m just dripping everything I’m just careful that the ants aren’t getting in there Get off Get off Can’t get enough Hang on Can’t they i just hope there’s none inside Right camp’s all set I’ve stolen a chair I’ve got a chair over there You won’t be able to see it Will you be able to see it i got a chair I got a chair I got a chair You see it me little camp set So that’s good Yeah the chair chairs made a world of difference actually So uh um the ants still Do ants go to sleep i hope they do I did miss my son and he said there’s monkeys in these woods I don’t think there is But I just say well if the monkeys are there then maybe they’ll eat the ants Well it’s all very nice The world’s biggest bowl They were quite hot though I’m glad I I diluted So I’m going to uh finish heating this and make myself a cup of tea cuz I got tea bags And uh I will turn in well once it gets dark It’s going to be what another hour before it gets dark I sit watch TV and with fur on then get big Doesn’t seem to be any ants on the on the tent So that means one or two things that they’re either all inside or they bugged off for the night which is good Maybe they do go to bed Maybe ants go to bed Someone could tell me I should know about it being an old pest controller But uh yeah maybe We’ll see But I’m going to finish me dinner See you later I really am going to do this Get into my bed Who knew that the dog bed was going to be so handy right I think it’ll be warm I just think it might be a little bit uh claustrophobic Anyway let’s uh let’s give it a go Don’t seem to be any ants in here so that’s good Keep my keys in there Got my phone Right I’m getting in and I shall do a little chat in there I’m a little right shock At least I’ve eaten I’m a nice cup of tea Right See you in a sec when I get in So funny Dear Well what do you think i can’t leave it open cuz it’s just going to get hands in it Oh I got me glasses Right Goodbye everybody Hope nothing comes along in the night See you in the morning Possibly if I’ve been chewed to death Good night everybody Night night Night night I don’t know what I look like I made it Surprise Bike still there Something’s still there Not even poked me out yet What’s going on out there is he i can see the ants walking across the top of the tent 10 a very loose sense of the word in it But actually actually it’s actually not the worst thing in the world I thought it was going to be worse than it was but it’s actually livable I don’t know if you can see me It’s actually not that uncomfortable Dear that um that dog bark again Can’t believe it stopped There’s another big like howling dog somewhere that’s been going for about the last 4 hours That one But it’s actually it’s all right as a tent sort of tent sleeping bag thing in an emergency I wouldn’t use it I wouldn’t take it again just for the you know if I did everything else cuz I think you could get a you know just a little a little you know twoman tent for toppings can’t you really that’s more like the advantage of this thing is is that it rolls up and it fits in the pers and you don’t even realize you’re carrying it It’s so small Also in an emergency I think it’s really good as long as the weather’s all right I don’t think I’d want to be in it if it was lashing down But uh but doing it this way this was actually good cuz it’s a a nice site apart from the ants But the ants didn’t get in So it is um insect proof I don’t want to show you We’re getting out cuz it’ just be such an unpleasant sight But uh what is the time it is quart 8 So So I sort of made it didn’t I i made it through the day Who knew that birds in France chatter all night there’s been birds that haven’t shut up It’s quite noisy Quite pleasant though Ah dear Right Supp yourself a brew and then uh I think the little can the calf thing’s open in the morning I think she said it was open today and so I might get a coffee and a probably quason But yeah it’s all right I’m glad I did it I think it was just good fun and uh quite therapeutic is but there you go But not sure how much I’ve slept for a lot as you can tell my voice All right so this is uh I do this stuff so you don’t have to This is This is the funny thing isn’t it right I
