  1. As someone who rides that area a bunch, I’m interested to see how it works out.

It’s not for me, but might work for the MTB family. Having trails on the property is nice, but the big draws are the Mt Hough and Mills Peak trails, and Downieville isn’t too far away.

“I went in way over my head and now I need YOU to bail me out for the low low price of $1200 a year”

  3. He should explain to the large number of bike parks that are open the public in California how the idea is just not sustainable in California

  4. $1200/year !! that’s quite hefty for a single rider. might be worth it for a family but still…

  5. Lol I dont think he looks sick, hes very very lean and has experienced lot of sun exposure.

One nice thing about it going private, is I assume there won’t be that many people on the trails. Not sure if there are enough rich people out there that want to pay so they don’t have to share trail.

  7. I’ll just say his concept is not that far off from a Rod and Gun club. I’m sure there are fans that would pay to interact with him and have input into these trails.

People forget how much money Kim Kardashian made off a mobile game she forgot existed. BKXC clearly has the cout to be a full-time mountain biker through sponsors and Patreon. He might have enough to swing this.

  8. Ran into him once when he was doing his tour of the states. My very short impression is that he’s not all that nice of a guy on the trail, editing can lead you to believe he’s is. That is all

  9. Yes it pisses off a lot of people, but… If I lived close, had an e-bike, then I would probably pay it. Imagine having access to low populated well maintained trails. Yes it’s pricey, but you are paying more to have it be secluded. Not dealing with a ton of riders, hikers, dogs, horses. It’s like paying for a private golf course. It’s not worth it for many, but there’s other options available in the area too

If his goals are to raise money and reduce liability, then why not just start charging riders $20/day or something reasonable and require the waiver? I think most of us don’t understand WHY we would pay $1200/year to go ride these trails. There are so many other options in the area. Free – or paid with lifts, over at Northstar.

  11. He is truly trying to use up all of the cringe in the world.

    He’s close to doing it.

  12. I got 44 seconds in. Him thinking people are mad that the trails are private isn’t the case. He can have his little trail system, we think his business plan is stupid.

Greedy loser . Take take take, probably some more live streams to take more from the community .

  14. Why all the hate for BKXC?

I’ve met him a few times several years ago at group rides. He was nice.

He doesn’t blow up illegal or crowded trail systems.

He goes on cool adventures and shows interesting destinations.

He’s not constantly pitching products and sponsors.

He’s a youtube mtb content creator but I’d never consider him an “influencer”

I’ve never been to everstoke because the trails didn’t look that great.

if the camping / lodging facilities were nice it’s something I would consider worth paying for.

  15. Can someone fill me in? Did he buy a parcel of land, build trails on it, and let people ride for free and now he wants to charge people to join a membership to ride there? If that’s the case I guess it’s his land so he can do what he pleases. I don’t follow streamers or anything like that. At 51 years old I’ve never been influenced by an influencer nor cared to follow someone else’s life. I’ve got enough on my own plate. I’m just curious why this has become a talking point. Thanks 👍

  16. I haven’t followed this guy since about 2019.

I thought the thumbnail was Ernest.

  17. I wish him the best. I hope it works out for him and if it doesn’t I hope they don’t loose too much money.

I’ll never ride there even if it’s free (I’m in Colorado and if I’m driving that far to ride it will be BC).

I think one thing many of us have a hard time understanding is there are people with A LOT of money, so $1200 is no big deal to them. When I worked in a shop I was always blown away how many people would drop $10k on a bike and not even flinch when they paid…and then they came back the next year and got a new $10k bike.

By going private on his mountain bike park I’m not sure the park will make it AND his YouTube channel will be damaged. No one is going to want to watch Everstoke videos anymore and it will be a turnoff to watch the private guy traveling around riding public trails. I watched his videos for a long time, but going member ONLY is a last ditch effort to save it.

  19. Smooth-Jackfruit-106 on

The trails at everstoke look like crap. Jammed too many miles into the property. Too tight of corners and easy to slide off.

  20. TurboBunny116 on

Feels like another MTB “influencer” who thinks they’re too famous to be a douche.

Reminds me of a couple yers ago when that MTB Alan guy doubled-down on the “get out of my way on the trails, I’m a YouTuber” thing.

  21. Nihilistnobody on

While I’m still not sure this is a sustainable model every comment here is still saying it’s just a pedal access bike park. If it is also a nice place to camp and they succeed in building some decent amenities then it makes the price a little more palatable. Certainly not for me, to be clear. Having a base camp that also has decent trails makes a bit more sense, comparing it to northstar is dumb.

  22. I read his youtube replies and from what I can tell his “bike park” is 90 acres of land with 300ft of elevation gain (this was his excuse about why they don’t need a shuttle lmao) and absolutely zero amenities. And he keeps commenting how:

“And the #1 thing for me is that you now have 91 acres to build new things on!”

“$100 a month to rent 91 acres of land that you can come out and build on to your heart’s content.”

So users are paying $1200 a year for a glorified xc trail system that they have to build themselves????

I’m amazed at all the wadded up panties in these comments and the YT comments. If you aren’t buying into the Everstoke plan, so be it. There are far better places for people to direct their ire than at a YouTuber explaining in great detail, over two videos, his team’s plans for the property.

  24. Pristine_Twist_6698 on

I guess the one thing I don’t understand (and maybe I missed it) is why you would go all in on the membership model and leave out potential day use customers. The whole membership thing isn’t inherently bad, but limiting it to just that seems like a bad business decision. 🤷‍♂️
