Why do my bike brakes lean towards the right? I’m asking reddit before I do anything stupid—and to discover if I’ve done anything stupid already. I’ve ordered a new brake noodle but I don’t think that’ll solve everything.
The spring popped out on the closer arm, just tuck it back, there should be a nub or peg of some sort to hold it in place.

That piece of wire – that spring – that’s sticking out on the left side ain’t supposed to be sticking out. SHould be a little post on the back of that arm that it presses against.
What these guys said. Specifically what this guy said. Circled it and arrows for extra clarification.

First. New brake cable is needed.
Second. Ensure that the wheel is seated in the dropouts completely and, if it is a bolt on, evenly
Third. When replacing the cable, extend the adjustment screw (at the lever) almost all the way out.
Fourth. Pull the cable through (routed appropriately) until the pads are on the rim.
Fifth. Tighten cable
Lastly. Screw adjuster screw in until the pads are an appropriate distance from the rim so as to not rub.
As for the tension screws on the caliper arms. Unscrew them before installing new cable. Then, once everything is installed, tighten the screw of the direction you want the caliper arms to move.
