Just wanted to throw some appreciation out there for my local bike shop. They've helped me out twice now, both times when I really needed it, and both times, totally free.
First time: I rolled in with a broken spoke, fully expecting to book a repair and come back later. Nope. When I asked how much I owed them, they just smiled and said, “Don’t worry about it, just ride safe.”
Second time: After a crash (a gust of wind hit me mid-corner on a gravel patch, turns out confidence ≠ traction), one of the bolts on my stem snapped in half. The threaded part was still stuck inside.
I thought I was looking at a long, expensive headache, or at worst a new stem.
They fished it out surgically on the spot and got me rolling again. No charge. Again.
It really reminded me: some local bike shops are built different. They’re not just stores, they’re community lifelines.
If you’ve got a good LBS nearby, give them your support. You never know when you’ll need a little bike magic.

I went in to buy the little metal frame saver for front Dereilleur, came out and sent me off with 2x no charge, had to go find a couple bits I ‘needed’ to make up for the gesture
