Got my bike back from the shop last week and had a few riding it since.. they had the entire crank set out, cleaned up and regressed.. I am just noticing now that it looks like they are “coming apart” a little. The driver side seems to have 2mm between the crank and the bottom bracket, and I can see the grease on the left side arm…is this normal or should I bring it back?

was this gap there before? it looks like they didn’t clean up the grease after reinstalling the crank

  2. First, they did seem to go overboard on the grease.

Second point is a question: what kind of Crankset/BB is it? GXP is a floating bearing on the driveside, and a few mm of exposed axel is normal

  3. Looks ok, the shop certainly greased the crankset spindle a lot but the excess will find its way out. The gap you’re referring to is for manufacturing tolerance.

    It looks fine to me.
