good morning people right so I’m going to drive to Shrewsbury and I’m doing something a little different i’m on my own today so I thought I’d do a little video of a 300k from up to Magna it looks really hilly today so let’s see how we get on but yeah bit sad Amy can’t join but her prep for tour is priority at the minute and all her big rides are done and I do feel a little bit sad that she’s not joining me but just one of them i’ve got to try and fit a big ride in myself and yeah I’ve had to make a little pit stop so you probably all know that I can’t eat breakfast in the morning not that early anyway but now I’ve woke up I’ve had a coffee and I’ve got a sausage roll i’m uh 11 miles from the start i’ve made it to Upton Magna is it Upton Magna yeah Upton Magna I think there’s the village hall i’m actually really looking forward to it but the more I was driving here the more I was thinking I’m missing Amy used to ride with her a lot so yeah it’s a shame but she’s got a rest so I’m sorry Amy but unlucky um I don’t know if Na’s deviated her yet but I’m going to have to go and have a look in a minute 3 minutes till set off i think he’s just doing the briefing actually which will probably be there but just getting my bits ready ready to go steve was very surprised that I’m here i probably try and get a bit of him in a bit so be quite funny so is he didn’t expect me to be here morning Nigel i’ve got I’m under instructions to film you again today oh I thought Amy was here i’d be all right where is she anyway she’s slacking she calls it taper but I call that just tapered cba yeah yeah ride a social ride around Wales to look at the views in the mist were you surprised to see me this morning no cuz I was tipped off you coming last night who told you that let me give you my information who’s giving away my secrets i didn’t know yeah you didn’t know steve is very surprised weren’t you listening you sorry jason told me last night well I wasn’t listening no no I think it was when we were walking down the pub and you were still flapping in your van who who told you oh Jason yeah yeah well I was trying to keep it secret but Amy did tell Laura so I thought Stevie might know until I realized a shock in his face when I was grabbing a coffee i rec I recognize that accent first hill done out of 20 the roads are a bit damp but it looks all right and it does look like the sky is going to perk up in places so let’s see how it goes i’m in no rush really i’d like to be back for a sensible time but no rush we’re riding to Balor riding for B riding to Balor which I think is 85k in or something like that for breakfast steviey’s just been telling me about his new bottom bracket i’ve never done a bottom bracket i don’t even know how to do it but we have had some new tool center so it’d be interesting to see how that how you actually do that there he is there you go smooth as a baby’s bottom this bar bracket new chain rings oh look at those new chain rings the only trouble is he’s come on his winter bike again today yeah it’s on the winter bike when Nigel starts smashing the watts down in a bit it’s not going to be good is it wait till the chain ring bolts drop out on the first climb kyle is that something to do with Gordon yeah I’m sabotaging it special look at that though i like that bike to be fair i do especially like this Kinesis to be fair you like that bike the Kinesis yeah I like both i do like the Kinesis titanium is that lovely proper Orax bike can’t miss them you know instead of being like that thing it’s got mud guards mud flap you’ll see next year there’s no such thing as an ordax bike now N yeah they’re about right there you’ve seen all these all these youngsters no idea what is about deep rims thinking they’re on an ultra road race or something there’s no racing going on today is there no tour around Wales today someone did say to me this morning about uh how fast I think I go today and I can’t answer that question don’t need to know how it goes how it goes oh the beautiful Welsh lanes oh what a morning i just feel privileged to be able to do this uh early get up this morning which you weren’t so happy about but it’s no it’s just really nice isn’t it to have the freedom just to go out ride your bike clear your head look at the views and wind Nigel up who’s currently back there somewhere just to enjoy it i’ll try and get round quick take it steady you can’t take any risk before Amy’s tour challenge i know she was a bit nervous about me doing this today but you can’t go through life thinking like that get me some grip ready for a nice fry some of that some heavier i want to try and save all me uh snacks on me for later in all it glory 8,000 ft left to go it’s been pretty flat up until now but we’ve got a big climb coming up and then I think mountain climb it’s actually a mountain I think well well it’s going to be it’s 1100 ft on the climb it does seem very bottomheavy here’s Stevie i think it’s very bottom heavy Stevie that’s why you say about me in some of the valley in the mountains look at that for a view makes it worth climbing cuz what you just said it Stevie yes it’s true it’s a pleasure to climb when you see views like that yeah massive waterfall over there look at that not far off now 300 ft look at that near it we’re just debating whether Stevie should stick to the orange socks and that be the trademark i think so just look bamboo is that what color it is h is that what color it is no that’s what it’s made of oh I thought that was a dul looks color color chart well bamboo orange then we’ll call it yeah yeah old wind Montgomery what’s that mean welcome no no that’s Caresso is it welcome right so when I was going up that climb I was thinking “Oh I must have a bit of hair in my eye.” Turns out it’s a long eyebrow like massive not as long as your beard I reckon look at the size of that it must be a good It’s over an inch is it over an inch yeah definitely over an inch massive i said to him the other day I said “My eyebrows look right.” He was like “Yeah yeah they look fine.” Cuz I quite often get a straight massive long eyebrow it’s right in my ey line look at that gorgeous right we’ve had the first control at the balor decided to have a cafe stop get it in early doors it’s chucking it down it’s windy i think I’ve actually just forgot the uh info control in fact I’m pretty sure I have but it was what was the distance to draw Finnard i’m sure Nie will tell me right that was absolutely disgusting what do you think to that well I’m lucky to have kept me bacon and uh sausage down it was steep average gradient of 11% that was i didn’t enjoy that bottom steep at the bottom on Yeah the top bit was a bit better well done mate look at that waterfall that’s the climb going up i didn’t want to miss that on the camera so nice even in the damp conditions i mean it’d always be better if it was sunny but it’s about start raining now and we just keep getting on with it don’t we we’re not made of sugar we’re coming up oh that’s a brute i’m at the top of the second burner wait for Stevie N that was another steep climb average of like 9% doesn’t sound a lot but it burns look at the mist really low the cloud up there well done there he is nice bite his eyebrows really bugging me it’s right in my eye look at the size of it i can’t I can’t believe how big that is it’s huge there’s two of them get them sed out maybe I’ll clip them off it’s a bit misty up here you can barely see anything just going to wait for noises to you again oh it’s cold got to stay positive aren’t we sheepies probably can’t see him with some sheep in there oh it’s wet wet cold and windy but it’s what makes you tough just waiting for N again well it does say the rain is going to stop about 2ish so let’s just look forward to that what time we on 12:00 couple of hours at least one thing i’m kind of glad we’re getting the full Welsh experience ah it’s doing right say a positive point is getting down about it it’s a bit of water so what could be in far worse situations we’re riding bike we chose to do this get on with it steve’s a little bit grumpy with me cuz I won’t stop talking apparently trying to get the blood flow back not blood flow down there blood flow down oh no trouble down there um fighting sting fit for the rest of the route what are you thinking to it you actually know it’s more than that oh good you found someone else to Yeah you’ve not been on film much today cuz you’ve been a miserable old getters pur he likes living up to that title right all right so Stevie’s just told me a little fact so this ordax is called the Irish Male Express isn’t it 300 and basically this is the is that the symbol of the Yeah of the the ancient coach road coach Road from Ireland all the way through to and it used to come through Holly Angle Sea wales and then into England so that’s why it’s called that we’re at Conway oh we’re at Conway well on the way back that is nice got a nice tailwind as well we seem to have turned the boys are happy big morale boost and there’s uh apparently they make homemade vegan chili concarni at the next control stevie really wants it so he’s looking forward to that look at this for the final control vegan chili this is vegetable chili but it is good i’m really good morning this is the post ride video i did do one last night but it wasn’t very good to be honest with you so I thought I’d do a different one but the ride stats were 195 miles 11,115 ft and average speed of 15.5 mph with my bum in the saddle for 12 hours 35 minutes with a lot of stopping i think it was like 15 hours 50 with stops cuz I was just I was riding with Nig’s DV was to be safe take my time not rush it so I thought riding the group’s probably a bit better especially with France coming up and talking of France the tour of France P’s coming on nicely there’s a fair bit of kit there but we still need more so so yeah anyway on a side note I’m actually doing a cafe ride today so that should be rather nice and let’s say hello to Chester hello and there’s Amy hello i’m just not showing my face no you can I can be on the camera but I’m just going to go like this hello i’m rather happy i can be on the camera i’m just going to go like this because I’ve got no makeup on and um you look beautiful i look horrible beautiful so but to be fair you’re going to see me in a much worse state on tour of France and yesterday I was very jealous of Kyle on his ride and I texted my coach and said “Is a 300k orex can I do it?” And he said “No.” So I said “Right all right.” I said “All right then Satan i won’t do it.” But then I realized it’s a good thing not to do it so no chess has been needing so yeah but sorry I’m not seeing my full face today because it looks horrible it’s annoying as well cuz that’s Sorry to rub it in but that was would have been one you’d really like no I don’t i did a cafe ride with Laura anyway welsh Welsh and I had sun all day you had rain yes to be fair in fact you wouldn’t have enjoyed it cuz the weather wasn’t your cup also I’m looking forward to assessing your YouTube Kyle i’ve done How are you impressed how
