I have been connected with a guy that owns an old team bike that he is trying to sell. They got them at discounted prices and he’s selling it for $4,800.

Just based on my knowledge it seems like a decent deal, but I’m a bit concerned that the seller is being (somewhat) predatory as the crank has been replaced with a downgraded SRM Shimano Dura-Ace power meter. I believe they’re a much older model of what these Project Echelon bikes came with. I have my own Favero Assioma, so it’s no big deal if the power meter is junk, but when I heard this was for sale I was expecting the better crank/power meter.

Is $4,800 too much? Should I counter?
Thank you!

Does the power meter work? Don’t they need a magnet?

I’m leaning towards the previous owner preferred the crank rather than they “downgraded” on purpose. Ask for a discount of its not hooked up properly

  2. Worth double checking but I think the tyre clearance on these are pretty limited. Most people won’t ride anything over a 30mm but trends are constantly changing and getting wider
