I’m considering if I should buy the expensive shadow chain with lifetime warranty or if the shadow interlock V2 is good enough to buy and last. I would be spending about 25 pounds more on the good chain but is it really worth it. Yesterday I was not expecting to spend this money but my chain was bad and I need a new one and my chain tool broke.
I have the money for the more expensive one but still do not want to waste money.

Taking the opportunity to crap on source they have a rewards system which gets you freebies but none of the rewards worth having are in stock. Shady. Slow shipping too and their janky website doesn’t accurately represent their stock. Go to Crucial BMX for EVERYTHING.

I am running my interlock v2 since over 1 1/2 years with no issues. So both are worth the money!
And just fyi, you can use any Chainbreaker. You dont need the Shadow one. (But the shadow tool is pretty nice)

I have been using the v2 since it came out, never broke it. I am on my second one now, but only because I wanted a white one, the first one is still fine and on one of my other bikes. No way that cost is worth it honestly.

  4. Don’t need expensive chain, but if your gonna do that I’d go somewhere that you’ll confidentiality get a warranty exchange in the future

  5. Save even more money and get a 510 like an Odyssey Bluebird. You don’t need anything more.

  6. I’ve snapped one standard interlock, never ridden the fancy pants one as I swapped back to standard 510 rating chains. For like 1/6 the price, they do me fine and don’t break that often, think my current ones been on for something like 3 years. Shadow tool is very very good though, beefy and just works!

I love mine. I got my years when they first came out because I was really hard on the regular ones. I loved sprocket stalls. Sprocket stalls and peddle pressure aren’t so good for chains but the regular one will take that beating for a good while.

  8. Any half shadow is good, try diff sites like oriolbikeshop. I usually shop around for the deals even if it’s some kinda percent off.

I’d just get a bluebird 510 and change it at least once a season or if you notice it stretched. Do you constantly break chains? Unless you break chains often I wouldn’t suggest the supreme chain because of the price(unless money is not question). I wouldn’t get halflink chains also because they stretch so much, heavier and eat at the driver/sprocket more.

  10. No. I’m pretty rough on my bikes and have never broken a regular shadow interlock. Usually replace them after a few years or when I’m replacing other parts etc.
