First off, yes I know it’s summer.

But I got caught in a couple cold rainy situations recently and my damn Reynaud’s fingers started acting up. And winter stuff is on sale now. So…

Can anyone recommend good, warm, grippy, well-fitting full-finger bike gloves? (Looking at you, BC friends). At this point I don’t care how much they cost. I just want to ride with not-dead frozen fingers.

In case you’re curious, that is a pic of my hands with Reynauds in Oakridge 1 week ago. The white parts are 100% numb. The bright red parts are icy cold.

And because I posted about winter gear in June, here is snow in the mountains of southern Oregon yesterday, on the summer solstice.

Thanks homies!

If my hands were going that numb, I’d start with some leather thinsulate lined gloves. You can find knockoff brands that are still good for $30 or less at times, especially since it’s summer and demand decreases. I’m warm in my DLY brand gloves.

Also, from a former girlfriend who has reynauds and liked to ice climb, get some generic viagra lol.

It looks like Vibration White Finger(VWF), are they ever like that when it’s not cold?

Here in Mn, I like to do layers. A wicking inner layer, wool layer, sometimes a short finger glove over that, then a thin packable mitten or a tougher yet tactile glove from the hardware store depending. So basically a cool max liner, then a wool layer for warmth. The rest are all lightweight and optional. Faster to dry, if you rip one you’re out 10-20 bucks rather than 60-80 for fancy stuff.
The wool ones from these guys are the best I’ve found in quite a while:

    also have raynauds.

i own like 30 pairs of gloves, no joke. all different weights. some standouts are the PI thermal ones in the light and medium weights, smartwool merino glove liners, and some amazon electric heated ones.

merino can go under any of them to tweak warmth. merino+heated has been too warm for anything so far.

once it starts getting cooler, i typically have like three different pairs of gloves on me.

Also suffer from Raynauds. I hate the bulk of bigger gloves and they still don’t keep my fingers warm. After trying all kinds of gloves I leaned on one of my winter kayaking tools: pogies. I settled on the bikeiowa pogie lites. I use gloves under them and they keep my hands warm. If they get too warm you can fold them back on the bars to vent. Many pogies are too bulky so you have to take them off the bars. They are a small business which is also a plus.

Sorry to be that guy but are you sure those gloves aren’t just too tight?

Mostly for colder weather I ride with glove liners under my cycling gloves. For even colder weather ski gloves are great.

  10. Really like my north face x-country ski gloves, as the palm is all grip and they keep my hands warm but handle some sweat well too. Think I bought at Valhalla Pure (I’m in BC)
