Installed a 111mm Campagnolo bottom bracket on my Italian-threaded steel track frame.
I know 109mm is the proper length for Campy Pista cranks, but those spindles are crazy expensive, and I got the 111mm for a good price.
Now the left cup sticks out quite a lot after adjusting for proper bearing preload — if I screw it in more, it crushes the bearings and the spindle doesn’t spin freely. There’s no play, everything spins smoothly, and the lockring holds the cup securely.
Is this kind of cup overhang normal when using a slightly longer spindle on Italian frames, or is there something I should fix? Thanks in advance!

from what i understand the shell length is what you should pay attention to. the 111mm is the length of the spindle where the crank arms go. adjusting this will change your chainline which is why there are different specs but i think this problem is to do with your frame bb shell and your actual bb are different lengths
Is the spindle definitely the correct one for those cups? Campy had thin and thick wall cups, so if you used a spindle meant for thin wall cups with thick wall cups, it will push everything over to the NDS side, and your chainline will be off.
