Go to your LBS and test ride both (even if they are more recent gen 5’s). I bought a Verve 3 gen 4 with a short frame. Wanted something more upright with less strain on back and shoulders. Ride is outstanding, but a little slower. Not yet sure if that’s me or the bike. The FX would probably be faster, all things considered (maybe my n+1 someday?).
Comfort: Verve
Trade some comfort for speed: FX
