You may need an adapter I know Thule make one for internally geared hubs.

  2. u not gonna have enough thread to secure trailer hitch directly there. u need an extender spacer (coupler) that also work as tightening nut. look for Thule SRAM Spectro S7 hitch kit

  3. The photo looks like a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub ?

If the hub is a Sturmey Archer 3 speed, then the

Rear axle = 13/32” – 26 (diameter 10.3 mm) with 26 threads to the inch with 15 mm hex nut flats (8 mm wide nut), which is particular to Sturmey Archer.

The Sturmey axle measures 10.3 mm, as compared to an M10 measuring just under 10 mm. An M10 nut, of course, will not fit onto a Sturmey 13/32” – 26 axle.

    Further detail :

Fine thread M10 bolt has 1.0 mm threads

The Sturmey 13/32” – 26 thread pitch is exactly 0.98 mm, which is why an M10 – 1.0 fine nut will not thread onto a Sturmey 13/32” – 26 axle (the 0.02 mm difference in thread pitch size and the 0.3 mm difference in diameter is the incompatibility).

  4. I ran into the exact same problem with my 2017 M3L. It turns out I needed an 10.5mm adapter, not 10mm. It was a little harder to track down that size, but it worked perfectly when I did.
