The reason why the bike broke was because Pivot doesn't really know how to manufacture frames. They're good at designing frames and their manufacturing partners in Asia are good at making them. But this was a lugged aluminum/carbon prototype frame made in house, and their lack of expertise in manufacturing nearly cost Bernard his testes.
