Peter Windsor provides short answers to Quick Questions. Given the processional racing at Monaco, is it time to draw a line under the famous street race? #Shorts
okay the question is because monaco always produces processional racing should it be taken off the formula one calendar is it defunct well the short answer is no categorically no for two reasons one because it attracts a lot of people who spend a lot of money and formula one needs money and it’s its greatest showroom and secondly there are very hard things to hit at monte carlo and sometimes drivers get away with it but at monaco you can’t and that’s good for the sport and it’s good for the drivers it’s good for the standard of driving anyway

Finish Monaco.
Formula 1 needs money. Really?
Change the cars not the track
I'm looking forward to the 2022 cars at Monaco, theoretically they will be able to actually race there, we shall see…
Monaco is all about Saturday. Sunday not so good.
Fun for live racing but on tv is the most boring race ever and every year it is just do qualifying and give the price after qualifying
Pete with the drip
yes! pls get rid of it
Cool glasses my guy
Quail is always good. But often I dont watch the race 🤷♂️
Monaco is the worst race of the year
Monaco is on Saturday. Can't deal with it? Then don't watch
Yes! It’s a total waste of space! It’s ridiculous!
Yessss
Monaco sucks, cars are way too big, I wouldn’t be opposed to them racing go carts around it though
They should extend the track up into the hills
They should do testing there
Why not change the format of Monaco so that race day is a 4-lap qualifying run like the qualifying format of the Indy 500. F1 cars are way too big to go wheel to wheel at Monaco. But a flat out 4-lap shootout will be exhilarating to watch.
Yes
Fans that prioritize overtakes should go watch NASCAR or some other spec series
Definitely Not
I want Monaco to stay forever. But the attitude of these online fans makes me fear it will be removed
Insane fit from Pete
You're great Peter, but thats a lot of Bs for Us viewers. For Formula 1 no, as you very explicitly pointed out. But what a boring shitty race has been for the past few years. I have been following F1 almost 40 years and i have always looking forward to that race. But now, is the shittest race of the whole calendar. Totally obsolete in term of "racing" yeah yea, get the pole and you have the 50% race won. A lame statement these days. I thought Formula 1 was about the race not just about the show. It was both.
It's not a race its a party with noise
I would drop the race or maybe release a few elephants on the track.
Nice shirt Peter
The cars are just too large for that track!
Yes, needs to go unless you do 5 mandatory Pitstop’s or something artificial like that
Definitely not the gear you should be wearing grandad, you look ridiculous.
I enjoy the Monaco race more than any other. Tires last well, and the drivers have to keep close and take advantage of the smallest error from their competitors.
The fact that its different to other races is also a major factor.
Only if they somehow add extra track for overtaking. Monaco makes a shit load of money but don’t put much into F1. It’s a glam for the super rich.Salute Peter.
No, it should not be taken off of the calender at all. What has to be done, and not only for Monaco but for making it harder to defend, is to make the cars lighter… shorter… and less wide.
The lighter cars make it easier on the tyres and all other components in terms of wear, so you can push the car harder.
The shorter car means that an overtake is done earlier as there is less length of a car to overtake. In a period where the straights seem to short to make an overtake stick, it would be desirable to shorten the car so less of the straight is needed to make it stick.
The slimmer or less wide car means that it is harder to defend, especially around tighter tracks. It also will make it easier to get some 3-wide action as well.
All in all… make it sound like a Daft Punk song: smaller, lighter, faster, stronger. 👍
💯 agree
Sad when you can tell Vegas GP will have better racing than Monaco. Brings in more money already. I'd like to hear your thoughts on why Vegas shouldn't be the new Monaco in spirit.
damn peter in all blue!!
Lack of respect for junior categories.
Nooooooooooooo
It doesn't pay a circuit fee, and it sells its own trackside advertising. That is why its always in jeopardy from a twisted FOM.
Totally agree. This idea that the cars are getting too big for it and therefore you should either get rid of,or drastically amend the track, is utter lunacy. The aesthetic, challenge, and history (of which you can’t buy) should not make way for something that fans don’t like (the are too big and heavy) and for which you can change. In the words of Christian Horner “Change your f#%*’n car (Regulations)!!!”
Monaco is not a race, it's a bunch of wankers on boats drinking wine and eating cheese. How many more years have we got to put up with this crap.
