  1. At that point it’s best to replace both the cable and housing. Neither one is worth saving. Is there a reason that you have to disassemble them?

The entire thing is roached. Toss it in the trash and replace with new cable and housing.

If the friction between the cable and housing is this strong, you should replace BOTH the cable and housing. They are inexpensive.

If you put a new cable in that old housing it is going to feel terrible and will prevent you from adjusting the brake properly.

You’re not trying to reuse the housing, are you?

Just cut it wherever and replace both.

  5. Why are you even trying?

If the inner is rusty & trashed the outer will be as well. Cables are cheap

  6. Replace both.

If you really want to get it out try putting one end on a power drill and spinning

  7. if it’s stuck in there, that means the inside of that housing is probably pretty messed up. You can get cables and housings cheap. I always have two or three on hand just here on the shelf.

  8. Cable puller/stretcher tool. Replace the outer, though. Both are likely fecked.

Cheap, cheerful, and good to have in your toolbox for the future. they’ve served quite useful to me for getting super stubborn dropper and shifter cables out where you can’t get the right amount of welly from a pair of molegrips.
