My pinion gearbox started making a crunching sound while pedaling. Anyone know what this is or what is required to prevent it? Is it time to perform the oil change maintenece on it?

I don’t really hear a crunchy sound, but the sound you have is most likely belt related, I usually pour some water on the belt and the sound goes away.
check sprocket/belt alignment. it needs to be really perfect. mine was slightly off and started making this noise a few hundred k in after the belt wore in.
sometimes, depending on belt tension, super fine dust can produce a similar noise
