New to biking… looking to get my first used bike in LA and have been looking on FB marketplace. I don’t want to spend a lot of money (<$500) because I don’t know if I’ll like it/stick to it until I get one to try first! I’m 5’2 and I keep reading that the best size would be about 49cm or 50cm.

Found this bike on FB marketplace – what’s the deal with it? Anything I should know or should I avoid?

  1. I mean I think the last time they made a Gary Fisher branded bike was around 2010? They were bought out by Trek. It would be hard for me to pay more than $100 for anything this old.

Being so short and trying to find a used bike will be difficult. You fall more than a standard deviation from the mean so unfortunately the bike industry doesn’t really cater to you.

You will need something smaller than a 52 with modern geometry. A 50 is about as big of a bike as you can handle. If it’s an old old bike, 20+ years. You can get away with a 52. The geometry is different

If you like it buy it. This will sell fast. Older model but still nice bicycle
