Hey Reddit!

I’m Alex, and after a long break from the cycling scene, I’m finally back in the saddle (well, almost). Thought I’d share a bit of my story, because… I might’ve just made a totally reckless bike purchase — and I want to document the whole thing with you guys, for better or worse.

So, quick backstory: I used to be all about MTB. Hardtails, trails, dirt — that was my world. But I recently moved to London, and, well… MTB here feels kinda pointless unless I plan regular trips out of town (which I probably won’t, let’s be honest).

So I started looking into road bikes and gravel bikes, thinking I’d at least ride regularly around the city. Gravel was tempting, but since I’m mainly going to be on tarmac for now, I settled on going full roadie.

And here’s where the madness begins.

I was genuinely shocked by how expensive modern road bikes are. Like… seriously? Over £1,000 for a Decathlon road bike that doesn’t even have hydraulic brakes, comes with a basic groupset and generic Chinese wheels? That’s just depressing.

So I started digging into alternatives — and that rabbit hole led me straight to the world of Chinese bike brands: Java, Twitter, and the rest of the underdog gang.

Eventually, I landed on the Twitter Cyclone 2025 model. Yep. I know. The name alone is meme-worthy. Cue all the jokes about how it should now be called “X” and whether Elon personally tuned the derailleurs. 😅

But honestly — I found very little real-world feedback or reviews on this bike, especially in English. So I figured: screw it, I’ll be the guinea pig. I ordered one. It’s currently being built somewhere in China and should arrive in around 10–12 days.

I have no clue if this thing is going to be a decent entry-level road bike… or an overpriced piece of spaghetti on wheels. But I’m going to find out — and share all the gritty details here along the way. Build quality, ride feel, quirks, issues, unfiltered thoughts — everything.

So yeah, wish me luck on this slightly insane experiment. If you’ve had any experience with these bikes or just wanna tag along for the ride, hop in.

Happy riding, folks! 🚴‍♂️

  1. Thanks for being the guinea pig! Please update this post (even if linking the new post) once your bike is delivered and you have an initial opinion. Good luck!
