46t ”normal“ chainring paired with a 28t biopace which is as small as a 26t and as big as a 30t ring i believe.
Will of course be shifting them with friction

Front and rear derailleurs have published max range but you can often times go over those. If you have all the parts already, give it a shot. You have nothing to lose except maybe having to redo some cable and housing.

I’m running a 48/30 on bar end friction shifters. Going from Big to small is easy, but you have to finesse it a bit for the chain to climb up on the big ring and move the shifter back down just a tad to eliminate the chain rubbing on the derailleur but it works really well other than that.
