I recently got this bike and know it’s a Kona Dew Deluxe. I wanted to put wider tires on it for gravel and also wanted to know my limitations as far as upgrades go. Switching to hydraulic calipers and really what else I could do
You’ve already got post mount or PM adapters so you could run Shimano entry level mt200s no problem. It’s all external so you’d have to zip at least the back hose to the frame, but the good thing is you can just order the fully bled set and slap it on.
Tyres you could probably go up to 40. Measure the chain stay space where the current tyre sits and also the clearance with the tyre and front derailleur clamp. Take 3mm off for on road and 5mm for off-road.
The drivetain isn’t the priority, but It probably has a 10/11 speed MTB HG hub so could run any drivetrain as long as it runs HG and has the appropriate spacers. You’d have to remove the cassette and get in there with some Vernier calipers to know, but it’s quite likely.
That opens you up to a whole Deore 11sp groupset, which costs 1-200 online at the minute. Most challenging part of the install is usually the brakes, but not in this case.
