I think i did pretty well for my first try (technically second cuz i butchered the first go haha)

Only issue is that the video i was watching said to start just before the weld area, which i did, but i realized i started just after the one spoke hole, whereas in the video he started just before. Is that going to cause a problem? I think i still covered the entire weld area, and the edge of the tape is a bit further down the rim (not in the picture). I would hate to have to redo the entire thing….

  1. Looks fine to me. Go around it with a microfiber towel or something to really make sure it’s stuck down really well all the way around.

I don’t think the starting point is critical at all, as long as you overlap it a little, which you have.

I find after it’s had pressure in it for some time it usually works most of the bubbles out and presses onto the rim better.

Best case scenario is tape adhered both in the valley as well as near the wall. Tape needs to extend from wall to wall as well.

  4. There’ll be rubber pressing 80 PSI against it pretty soon, the bubbles will get smoother.

  5. Looks pretty good actually it’s easier with a truing stand to keep tension on rim gets rid of those bubbles don’t have to be perfect just need a good seal on the seats and in the nipple holes

Absolutely fine as long as it seals up okay, you want to look out for bubbles near the bead, in the middle it doesn’t matter as much.

I was taught to and always overlap the valve hole by a few inches. Either way, looks just fine.

I have heard to start an inch or two before the valve stem hole and go that far past.🤷‍♂️ if it works, it works. I have seen people use gorilla/ t rex/ duck tape before.

  9. Looks about like my first tape job. Which is holding quite well, I’ll add.

You could really get it set in there and help push the bubbles out by tossing a tube in and inflating just shy of max pressure overnight.

  10. Looks great! I’ve done way shittier job setting up tubeless on customer bikes at a shop and it held up just fine. Ok maybe not way shittier, but the point stands that this is absolutely a more than acceptable job
