Buying my first road bike and planning to use it for a triathlon as well as everyday ride. I have a friend selling this Specialized Roubaix and as someone who loves and has lots of biking experience but doesn’t know brands or gear super well (I’ve been rocking my dads trek from the 90s happily for years), how does this look? I’m a bit hesitant on the rim brakes and the chain can be a little iffy sometimes.

  1. Rim brakes are all you really need on road, don’t buy the disc hype – it’s all marketing.

Price is a little high for the age and condition. The chain problem is easy to solve with a tune-up, but the need for a service reduces the value a bit.

    Offer your friend $300.
