[Music] welcome to Dentunch Practice your English listening and reading with simple interesting stories Improve your vocabulary grammar and understanding all in one video Let’s begin our story Raj was a 16-year-old boy from a small village in India He lived with his mother and younger sister His father had passed away when he was 10 Life was not easy but Raj never complained Every morning Raj woke up at 500 a.m helped his mother with chores then walked 6 km to school He loved studying and always sat in the front row His dream was simple to become an engineer and give his family a better life But there was one problem time Walking to school and back took too long He had little time left for homework or rest One day Raj saw a boy riding a new bicycle to school The bike was shiny fast and smooth He whispered to himself “If I had a bicycle I could save so much time maybe even study more.” But Raj knew his family couldn’t afford one Even secondhand bikes cost 2,000 rupees and his mother earned just 3,000 rupees a month Your job is to study beta Don’t worry about a bicycle now But Raj had made up his mind The next day after school Raj went to the nearby tea stall Uncle can I work here for 2 hours every evening The tea stall owner looked at him Why do you want to work I want to buy a bicycle The man smiled Okay I’ll pay you 40 rupees per day Raj thanked him From that day he worked from 400 p.m to 6:00 p.m cleaning glasses serving tea and wiping tables It was tiring but he didn’t stop Weeks passed Then months his hands were rough his back hurt but his eyes were full of hope Finally after two and a half months Raj had saved 2,400 rupees He went to a secondhand bicycle shop in town The shopkeeper showed him a red bicycle It had scratches but the tires were strong and the brakes worked “How much?” Raj asked “2,000 rupees,” the man said Raj smiled and paid in full He rode the bicycle all the way home wind in his face heart full of joy The next morning Raj reached school in half the time He now had more hours to study His marks improved His teachers noticed He smiled more often now One day the principal called him Raj we have nominated you for a district level science competition Raj’s eyes widened Me Yes you We believe in you Raj worked hard on his project A lowcost solar water heater made from broken glass and black pipes He used waste materials from the village junkyard His project was simple cheap and useful On the day of the competition Raj wore his cleanest shirt and rode his red bicycle to town There were dozens of students many from big private schools Raj felt nervous but he remembered his goal When it was his turn he spoke with confidence The judges listened carefully One of them nodded and said “This boy has a brilliant mind.” A week later Raj’s school received a letter Raj had won first prize He would now get a scholarship to study in one of the best engineering colleges in the state His mother cried when she heard the news His sister hugged him tightly “You did it Baya,” she said Raj looked at the red bicycle parked near the door He smiled and whispered “You helped me reach my dream.” Moral of the story even a small step like saving for a bicycle can lead to big dreams Hard work focus and patience always win If you like the story hit the like button Subscribe for more English learning videos every week Tell us in the comments what was your favorite part of the story Keep learning keep growing
