Is this picture flipped somehow? Drive train is on the left?

Don’t pull the lever out. Turn the handle anticlockwise and eventually the thru Axlle can be slided out.
The reason the lever pops out and has a spring/magnetic catch is so you can reposition the angle of the lever after tightening, usually to align with the fork/frame.

It works like a normal threaded bolt. Unscrew it by turning it anti clockwise.
You turn it any clockwise
Nothing happens when I screw. Do I need to do anything else?
Turn it anti clockwise

I do like this but nothing happens when I screw
Sidenote your brake disc looks like its mounted backwards
Do not PULL the lever. You just reposition the arm when pulling it. Just turn it anti clockwise. You can do it!!
First make sure to go to the highest gear. Then don’t pull the lever, make sure it’s fully pushed in and then turn it counterclockwise.Â
