The front cover on my Electric likes to remain open. It's been this way since I received it, but it's never been a big deal since I usually remember to tap it closed.

However after my last outing I forgot to close it and it got a little dusty and now I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to make it behave properly. I don't think lubrication will help (please correct me if I'm wrong) because the spring is the culprit. Is there anything I can do short of buying a new front cover and spring kit (which is OOS anyway)?

Having the same problem. Have a 12 speed C line electric I bought in March.Didn’t happen till after maybe 150 miles of use, but after that, took it into the Brompton company store, they ended up replacing the spring and cover, not the base it box attaches to. Never was able to get it closing as well as it had before, but thinking they fixed it. Got home that night. It wasn’t working again and hasn’t worked well since.

I’m about to take it in for a third time with some other problems.

Here are some photos they sent me to help me remotely. This might help you understand what’s going on and maybe you can fix yours.
