hi and welcome to WannaGoBiking, I am in Belfort still in the east of France about to set off for a ride from Belfort obviously, towards Colmar where I’m staying for a couple of days there should be quite a few nice highlights here in Belfort of course that’s why I came so let’s go out and see if we can find them right talk to you later I think one of the highlights here is going to be a thing that the famous architect Bartholdi made here so if you see if you’ve seen my videos in sequence you know that he was born in Colmar and made the statue of liberty as well and so there should be a nice big statue waiting for us here as well okay on y va c’est parti oh that’s a nice little theater what do we have here? that would be nice with water it’s kind of cool super nice so the statue here on the square is  dedicated to two defenders of the city I think one of them is Denfert-Rochereau which I only knew from a metro station in Paris but yeah apparently he was a brave soldier or a colonel or general I don’t know who actually defended this partÂ
of the Alsace against the Germans at the time and this was the only part that was not -well conquered by the Germans in 1870/71 so yeah must have been a good defender so now we go and see the lion of Belfort so after the defense works we saw in Neuf-brisach or if you see that video after this one those were quite impressive as well but these are quite tough to attack I would imagine now we have a little climb on our hands before we hopefully get meet up close with a lion porte de Brisach well I mean that makes sense cuz when I was in Neuf-Brisach so new, they had pretty much the same defense structure it would seem which makesÂ
sense cuz they were also made by Vauban I think Le Lion de Bartholdi so hopefully we get a glimpse of the lion that Bartholdi made but I’m not quite sure if I’m on the right route so fingers crossed almost missed it but there it is the lion that Bartholdi made so that’s the statue by Bartholdi that I wanted to feature because obviously I’ve been to Colmar and I’m actually heading back to Colmar and yeah I hope to be able to visit the museum tomorrow morning maybe there’s some more information for us there okay I think that’s it for Belfort for now and well we’ll see what comes up next 80k back to Colmar that’s for sure see you it’s not the best road oh well well I hope this road is a lot less crowded than the other one cuz yeah it should be So much better yay all right it’s nice to follow a bit of the whine route ah look at that what a cool bird well it’s a little bit unfair i’ve been chasing the blue sky all day now so the clouds, the veil of clouds is yeah following me, it’s all right it’s warm enough I should be hitting over there into the vineyards again shortly and hopefully reach a town called Rouffach the route is okay I have to say but that’s not the best route I’ve ever done so ah it is what it is but of course there’s still the vineyards to go so that’s always nice okay let’s see if we can find a picnic spot somewhere and eat an apple or something cuz I’m overdue all right talk to you later clos.. quelque chose,je sais pas Rouffach, okay let’s see if we can have coffee here well I guess it’s an improvement: it used to be able to come from both sides now it’s just one side that can hit a tree and there’s another one i mean yeah wow that’s cute well for a non gravel route I wouldn’t recommend it on your road bike right as you can see maybe up ahead is Colmar the end point of today and I think I’ll add some footage of my visit to the Bartholdi Museum to either this video or the previous or the next one we’ll see if there’s nothing else to report I’ll just say thanks for watching enjoy your rides and stay safe out there see you in the next one, au revoir, salut
