Is it normal to replace this thin plastic cover with something more hard wearing? It’s the part that protects the section of the frame that the front wheel rests on when folded.

My bike is only a few weeks old and it’s looking well worn (understandably given the weight bearing nature of that area when folded). See picture.

  1. I purchased some Bromptom-themed metal shields which stick-on. I gave-up on helicopter tape and similar ideas, they wear through, move, or just make a mess.

I had used vinyl tubing but dirt gets under that eventually and the material can still wear through (though alot slower).

So I purchased something similar to [this kit](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804621937821.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.0.0.45c4e7nte7ntpV&gps-id=pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.40050.354490.0&scm_id=1007.40050.354490.0&scm-url=1007.40050.354490.0&pvid=1740a7cd-ad3b-4ea3-a740-dfb7a09cf1f7&_t=gps-id:pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller,scm-url:1007.40050.354490.0,pvid:1740a7cd-ad3b-4ea3-a740-dfb7a09cf1f7,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238108%231977&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21USD%2129.90%2126.31%21%21%2129.90%21%21%40210324c816960182248604729e9eba%2112000030571106898%21rec%21US%213396566905%21) (only mine was only three pieces, without the fork protection “shield” shown.

Mine already had worn through the paint ages ago so I spent some time cleaning it up, covering with touch-up paint, then sticking these guards on after the paint had cured a few weeks.
