Just got a new bike and after a first long ride I feel like I could do with a shorter stem that is slightly raised. I am not too knowledgeble about bike parts.

This bike has break cables hidden under the stem in that plasticy bit. And that plasticy bit follows the shape of the stem. Does it mean I will have to give up on the plasticy bit as well if I get another stem and the cables will have to be exposed?

I checked Snycros website and unfortunately they don't make positive angle stems.

Thank you!

  1. If you haven’t done so yet, I’d go get a bike fit before investigating this any further, if I were you.

Assuming it’s the right size for you, you might find that with some adjustments to the saddle height and fore/aft position, you’ll be fine as is.

If you do need a shorter stem with positive rise, I’m sure that one exists. It might mean you’d need different spacers – I’m not sure if they’re more specific to the bike or the stem.
