hello and welcome to highlights of stage one of the tour to Swiss from Gishad to Gashtad today 95.5 kilometers and back to defend her title Damy Valering with a strong FDJ Suez team she had won the race a year ago ahead of Ne Bradbury and Alisa Longo Bulgini 2023 winner from Switzerland Marlon Royce now in the colors of Maui Star up against the likes of Casia Nuvia of the team of Canyon Tram great performance that team put in a year ago a stage on paper 95.5 km 1784 m of elevation the first climb coming at 7.1 km into the stage then onto the Jean pass within 64.6 km to go intermediate sprint the react sprint and then the Tisso kometer coming with 16.2 and 15.3 to go respectively before a slight rise up to the finish line the big question was could the sprinters and fast riders get themselves over the climbs early on in the stage or would it come down to a GC battle the answer came on the Jean pass for Ray Meing setting a ferocious pace for Marlon Royer Damy Volering up there sat on the wheel of her competitor fem kick things off on pass she would be caught and passed by Sarah Gagante of the AG insurance Sudal team jagante had taken two points over the first Queen of the Mountains points the Santa Moza which is taken by Morgan Cost but the Aussie was looking for maximum points at the summit for the Queen of the Mountains and perhaps to try and go clear and fight it out for the stage victory denique Hangerfeld of Seratis Pro Cycling right to lose contact but putting in one of the best performances we’ve seen from her in the mountains jagante’s attack took quite a select leading group clear marlon Royer of Mobby Star in the white jersey closing the gap but the pace just too much for Guy Raimi and Marian Bunau cassie Doma Nisher Black Marlon Royster Damy Volering and Ushka Zegart would crest the summit with Jagante taking maximum points but it was on the descent that Marlon Royer launched her bid for glory cassie Doma trying to get on turns as was Damy Volering it split the leading group the chase is behind with swelling numbers as the stage went on but the chase took a lot out of Damy Volering breathing heavily as she made contact with her former teammate the chasing trio was made up of knee fisher black in the red yellow and blue colors of lead trekkazar of a insurance sudal and Cassie of Canyon Shramm the gap minute and 32 and 235 to the groups respectively third group on the road was swelling in numbers with Mavi Garcia of Livucha Jac continually giving the group a good tongue lashing for not getting the chase organized frustration evident for the Spanish rider they would head towards the next objective of the day which would be the react sprint the chasers were bringing the gap back down they were holding the two leaders at just over a minute could they start to bring them back before the finish volering and Roya tempo didn’t look fully committed at this point picnic Postel and EF Education Oakley the two teams that were chasing hard on the third group on the road 5.5 km to go though the gap was down considerably and just outside two kilometers to go Marlon Royer attacked Damy Volering clearly not confident of her sprint seagar Nia Doma and Fisher Black would fight it out for third but Damy Volering just sat on the wheel of Royer shaking out the legs royer would be forced to lead out the sprint following blink first went long in the sprint and momentarily it looked like she might have gapped the mobby star rider but Royster into the slipstream came off the wheel and launched her sprint for the line it was a straight drag race to the finish but stage one of the tow went to Switzerland and Mari start and with it the first yellow jersey of this year’s race congratulations and hugs around for the former teammates Mori Star and FDJ Seers take first and second cassie Anubia Doma led over N Fisher Black for third with Ushigar great performance from the AG insurance sud rider to finish in the second group royster setting herself up brilliantly but with three tough days to come and it being so close it’s going to be tough to defend that yellow jersey royceer Volering Nuvia Doma Fisher Black Ziggar Ruick Shab Castal Bonito admiring your top 10 onto the podium great day for the home rider Marlon Royster as she takes the stage marlon Royson now leads Dame Vering by 4 seconds in the general classification minute and 51 back to Nia Doma with Fisher Black Ziggar Ruek Shab Casteline Bonito Admiring your top 10 yellow jersey in this year’s Tour to Swiss for Marlon Royster [Music] it is a tough day ahead of us and Maui Star will have their work cut out to defend that jersey we go from Gestat to Obaker a category 1 category three and a category 2 climb along the route 161.7 kilometers don’t miss it join us for stage two tomorrow [Music]
