  1. The lower one, yes, definitely! They aren’t supposed to be spikey, meaning, they’re totally worn up.

    I mean soon the lower one will be so smooth it would have to save you a bunch of watts. Keep running it.

  3. in the end its a combination of skipping teeth, chain wear and general drive train wear. Whoever rode the bike with the lower wheel doesnt seem to clean the drivetrain too often so wear isnt a strong concern.
    That leaves skipping, if that became annoying then yes, it was time to replace it.
    I would like to see the rest of the drivetrain.

    Also, chain cleaning can be described as a three step process, just in case the bike owner wants to try it out:
    – remove chunks mechanically and clean chemically (chain cleaner of some sort)
    – remove cleaning agend and dry drivetrain
    – oil chain and remove exess oil

  4. Not yet. When it converts to a disc you can start to look for replacement parts.
