I’m a Mech E and recently got myself a little CNC machine and have been prototyping a bash guard design for fun. These are a couple of recent ones I made that are very close to my final design. They’re made out of 6061-T6511 Aluminum, I’ve been designing and doing FEA in solidworks, it’s been a lot of fun! Let me know if you want one of these! Shipping is included to the USA and they come with stainless steel mounting bolts.

Note: these have been made precisely to the ISCG-05 3 bolt standard.

I’ve been 3d printing mine. Nice to see that the shapeoko can handle the metal. I should dust mine off

Cool project, but I don’t know if you can call it “for fun” if you’re asking like quadruple the price of a comparable part already available on the market.

  3. We leaving tool marks to collect dirt and shit.. or just for looks?

When I look at other milled parts from Wolf Tooth or what not they are smooth, polished, and anodized.

Fun project but these look very rough cut. Have you done any finishing to them? Polish, deburr? Are they coated? Do you plan to anodize? It doesn’t seem to have much adjustability for mounting. I’d buy a new chainring at this price point.
