Hey yall just wanna say I am new to biking and trying to figure out a lot. With that being said I recently purchased a velo vie vitesse 300 se bike frame with no fork and was wondering if anyone might know anything about this bike? I went to a bike shop but they essentially told me to find the fork for it then they would help me out but looking it up I think this company has gone out of business. Anyway any help is greatly appreciated and if you have any recommendations on a fork that’d be awesome too! Thank you all in advance!

  1. You can buy a carbon fork from Whisky, Ritchey, or Columbus. It will most likely need a 1 1/8″ straight steerer tube. Definitely rim brake model with quick release dropouts. Then you have to figure out what headset to buy. For that I recommend researching on youtube. (it comes down to measuring the inside diameter of the head tube on your frame.) Usually one would find the rake and axle to crown measurements of the stock fork and then compare them to the new one, but I can’t find that info. So I would just send it.

Find a new shop, if they can’t tell you what you need, what good are they?

Aftermarket carbon forks are pretty common because they’re lighter than steel and more compliant than aluminum.

FB marketplace is full of them near me; while used carbon can be a gamble, you can experiment with different used ones of different materials without breaking the bank.

I’m a DIYer but if you’re not you’d better find a shop that will facilitate the whole process. Metal forks are easy to cut and install a crown race, carbon/composite fork cutting should probably be left to the pros
