I picked up this 10 year old Kona Jake on Marketplace for a good price but it has some flaws. I’d really like to spruce this thing up and I need advice on what to replace or upgrade.
Definitely needs a tune up, and the front rotor is bent so that needs replacing. Am I right in thinking that the cassettes have too much wear and they also need replacing? The front one has a bit of a shark fin thing going on. I’ll be able to replace the pedals and seat myself but the other stuff will be worked on professionally. Any upgrades I should consider while it’s being worked on? What would you do to this bike?
It’s going to be used mainly for a paved trail near me.
At 61cm it feels pretty good to me. Not pictured is the original (longer) stem that will be put back on the bike.
There is a well trusted local guy who worked on bikes for a very reasonable price so I’m not afraid to have quite a bit of work done.

That’s a lot better deal than I can get in the Houston area
