morning from where are we where are we mina Dal Domingos wherever that is so day two of gravel birds and we’ve got another big day ahead of us we’re going to try and do a couple of hundred kilometers but I think there’s quite a lot of climbing 3,000 m of climbing or something and obviously because it’s gravel we’ve got no idea what the terrain’s going to be like yesterday um there were some segments that rolled by fairly quickly and then you’d turn the corner and hit this ridiculously hard hike or descent that was quite loose or you’d suddenly turn across a field and everything slowed down so much just getting here at the very end of the day oh my goodness those last few kilometers seem to take forever um but it looks like it’s going to be a lovely day today we’ve been so paranoid about rain so hopefully that holds off haven’t had any coffee yet so that needs fixing but we don’t want to hang around too much because it’s going to be another long one i would imagine we’ll do about 12 hours of riding or so so we better get cracking so we began the day by riding through the deserted open pit mines the Romans used to mine here for gold for 400 years and then it moved on to other kinds of mining including copper then we enjoyed this lovely descent skirting the border of Spain which I believe is just over the other side of the river and we rolled on through to checkpoint one feeling really rather hungry seeing as we’d only had yogurt for breakfast we asked them last night if they could provide something but they don’t have granola and they get all their bread delivered in the morning it’s not ideal we’re both very hungry i mean we’ve got gels and stuff but not super appealing for breakfast [Music] i’m in a bush help you got to just go for it i really hope that was the right way i don’t fancy bushwhacking my way back up through that time to get some breakfast and visit Little there’s a little here and I’m so excited about it um I think after this there’s a stretch of about 80 kilometers with no resupply so need to be well fueled and pack some extra bits to take with us okay in today’s supermarket suite we’ve got food in a bottle two bananas gummy bears a protein cookie and then I’ve got two chocolate quasants one other quissant one pastel dinata another kind of bread thing that I don’t know what it is i’m not going to eat all this now i’m going to drink this eat a quissant take the rest with me i still haven’t had a coffee though which is a bummer wonder if that bar’s open um need my caffeine fix and then on we go [Music] i think Juliana is suffering a bit today i just I I think she’s having a bit of a downer so we’ll just pedal on through and uh try to minimize stopping and we’ll get there we’ll get there i have faith in her and myself [Music] got to have this one it’s the only one mhm no water i’m so nauseous was that that milkshake at little i’m sorry that was my fault no no no i need it you know we need the food i guess because it’s milk I’m not used to it so I’m like burping and I’m like this is the best thing ever you should get one have some more Coke it’s good for your stomach um Juliana and I share the same coach so she’s just messaged him to see um if she can get some advice on why she’s feeling so nauseous so now we’re just going to keep plotting i did have a quick look at alternative um places where we might be able to stop tonight but it’s pretty scarce really so we’re just going to crack on and try and make it to our original spot which will take all day but you know it’s what we’re here for woohoo [Music] lot a lot of climbing making progress though [Applause] we haven’t gone quite as far as we wanted to never mind um but we have found a place to stay that’s a bit off the route so we’re just trying to figure out where to turn off the route and go to this this accommodation because obviously you have to return to the part of the route that you disappeared off at does that make sense we’re a little tired what I mean is we can’t just go straight to the hotel and then cut back onto the route you have to ride all of the route um anyway we are a little tired and um we’re just gonna do our best to get to the accommodation get a wash and yeah tomorrow maybe we’ll be quicker i hope so listen I think we’re going to have to come back here because look it’s telling me to turn here h [Music] [Music] Juliana this is the most bougie ultra cycling race ever insane insane i mean look at that view the display in it just us this was just the only place we could find same as last night and we didn’t bring Bivvie bags so it is what it is i might go check out the pool i mean we have got to ride a lot of extra hills tomorrow to make up for this yeah that’s why I’m like pray for our bums wow this is a good find like we have to come back here okay time to wash our salty bums and get ready for dinner what did we end up doing today 125k um something like that oh my god i’m going to tell you when we’re in the room like it was a lot more climbing than we thought it was going to be wasn’t it like a bump here yeah 2400 and we’re supposed to do 2500 and we cut short 70 km yeah the route lied to us no way there’s only 100 km climb on that 70k i think we’re going to have to do a little bit of planning for the rest of the race didn’t make the kilometers we wanted to do today but it’s no big deal we did have a bit of extra time cuz we pushed quite hard yesterday also every day that we finish well it’s only been two days but you always tell yourself that the next day is going to be much easier you always think it’s going to be easier it never bloody is but you have to tell yourself these things look at our accommodation [Music]

Great effort. The key is be realistic and have a contingency.
That overnight stop was like paradise after the day
She should ask her dr for some Zofran to bring on these trips for the nausea. It works wonders.
