stage three of the Duffin turned out to be a special one for many reasons Beginning with a tribute to Human B starting in his hometown for the final time His family there and everybody else on the start list including Matcha Fool hoping to try and make it a real show Renco waved to the crowd Tare Pogacha was back in his rainbow bands and Jonathan Milan wearing the yellow jersey The first Italian to lead the Dorpina in seven seasons It was a big stage on the menu Touch and go to see if Milan and the sprinters could make it to the end to contest it 207.2 km long starting in Priyud finishing in Shahon And with over 3,000 m of climbing it promised to be a difficult difficult day That was the profile and once the race started it was full of fireworks Around an hour for a break to go 13 riders strong including one of the GC favorites Fon Lipovitz Vanderpool had made it into the front but so had other potential stage winning stars With Lipovitz there and several other riders who could have been dangerous in the GC The top three teams decided that they would control the gap It was at 1 minute 30 going into the final 60 km Sudal quickstep alongside Visma Lisa bike and UA Emirates riding Jonathan Milan in the pelatin at times but also off the back at others Neils pullet on a yellow card pulling things back to keep it under control End of the final 45 km and the gap grew yet again There was still good cooperation between everybody in the group [Applause] But the fight behind always left you asking the question as to whether the Pelatin could pull things back They were mainly riding for their places and to keep their GC leaders safe And going into the final climb of the day it was 1 minute 19 That continued to come down the closer they got for the fight for position to go into the narrow roads and over the last hill And when that last hill came with 20ks to go the gap was below a minute Lieovitz one of the first to have a go to keep the gap out He would dearly love a head start as far as the time’s concerned going into the big mountain stages Eddie Donar was there as well He was making sure he was still with the best as the attacks came Julian Bell now having a go when it became more clear that his mate Milan was struggling to make the finish Harold Dearda tried to get across to him Ibam Romeo as well and just in case behind Bbacha and Vigor were watching each other closely Milan this time definitively dropped He’s clear with 18ks to go There will be no big sprint finish But could the brake still take the stage It was looking increasingly likely Three riders were dropped on the climb down to four plus six at one stage and then more attacking continued 15 km remain with Lipovitz had a go Lechnes tried to chase Tehada was there as well and then the Colombian Teada briefly out front on his own but he wasn’t done there Belna would again have a go Brilliantly combative looking for a first ever bit of world tour success Faul in the points jersey was always there or thereabouts and yet again there was a split at the front Just 4 seconds though and it would be Romeo who pulled them back for Maui Star with 11 km go He then would have his own go at 8 and a halfk from the finish only for Lipovitz to bring him straight back Back in the pelatin it became clear that they were interested in controlling the gap but the break was going to take the stage 5 km remained when I Romeo got away Leapovich was there trying to close it down but it was stop start stuff behind and Romeo was fighting to stay away With 4 km to go he had a gap It suddenly ballooned to 15 seconds It was time to close it or it will be too late for those behind Fool pulled it along but he wasn’t doing all the work himself The trouble was as is often the case in these situations everybody wants to save something Romeo had given everything and the under23 time trial world champion from Switzerland last year who won his first pro bike race at the start of this season in Valencia is now a world tour winner as well His team delighted those behind finishing just a few seconds back and just under half a minute separated The first part of the breakaway for the last led home by those gaps meant that it’d be a yellow jersey too for Iban Romeo Misar’s first win since April just their fifth of the season and first at this level since the tour down under 21-year-old Romeo instead of taking a step forward taking an absolutely giant leap towards the tour to France Perhaps he was top of a very fast group of riders at the end of a brilliant stage ridden at over 45 km per [Music] hour A big moment on the podium then for Ilvan Bromeo one of the top young Spanish hopes and leading the general classification going into his favorite time trial discipline A day in yellow at least hoping to hold on to it I’m sure for a while Ivan Romeo but a massive moment for the Mauvi star man Romeo taking victory and a yellow jersey heading into the time trial That time trial takes place on Wednesday It’s 17.4 km long Stage four of the Dofineir looking like this with a time check after the hill right in the middle of the stage You can watch it as always on TNT
