  2. Make sure the chainring bolts are tight too. I’ve seen them fall out on rides and dudes bend the ring in half, then brag about it. I was like, the bolt fell out you moron. It had nothing to do with your massive levels of power. 🙄 I usually take them out, grease them, then reassemble. Grease allows you to tighten them a little better without breaking them. If they’re aluminum, be very careful tightening them. I used to switch them to steel back around 20 years ago because the aluminum ones were constantly coming loose or breaking for some reason. The slight weight benefit wasn’t worth it for me especially on a mission critical part.
