  1. 36/40 wrench to unscrew the cup on the crankset side. A hammer and a flathead screwdriver to unscrew the counter-nut on the opposite side and a 23/24/25/26mm wrench to unscrew the cup on the same side.

  2. It’s called a cup and cone square taper BB.

    Nothing wrong with just maintaining it and using it (if it’s good shape) if it’s not I’d replace it with a sealed cartridge square taper BB and you can reuse the cranks, the length of the spindle (width of the BB) is usually stamped in the middle of the spindle, you’ll wanna order the same size.
