Don’t get me wrong, I can’t squat 200kg, but I’m not paid to go to the gym, never have been, and used to get reasonably close to that when I wasn’t skipping leg day. This is highlighting a weakness in the English game presently rather than what has been a traditional strength. An international level prop in this day and age should piss 200, half the Sunday league players in South Africa would fancy a go at him based on this. Ellis, dynamic, combative, abrasive, but bang average in the scrum. Unfortunately for him you just can’t have that in a test match…
If nothing else, this shows he isn't on gear (or not much) because I was squatting deeper for 200 for 5 with no belt or knee wraps at 15 stone when I was a centre. I was 50/50 in powerlifting and rugby back then. He is a full-time rugby player who needs more strength and endurance than total power output for 1 lift, so I'm not trying to put the guy down.
It's madness that the coaches allow spotters for squats. If he's was unable to get back up the spotter could cause more harm than good. Just treach how to squat and throw the bar back should he fail.
For all those commenting its lightweight, he isn't a professional power lifter or a body builder. He's an athlete than needs to have the stamina to play a high intensity cardio based sport where speed and fitness is required. Too many muscles doesn't help with fitness. Having to recover cos you've overdone it or getting injured in training is avoided at all costs because this is his livelihood. For all we know he could be recovering from injury as well and easing his way back into training
I think he would be a good rugby league player the big runs he does. I'm not sure how 200kg compares to all black forwards or South Africa n forwards eny one no?
Of course there are couch potatoes running their mouths in the comments. This is probably mid or at the tail end of a punishing workout and as an average sized guy he still is doing reps with 200kg

No lift.
It's a fare weight but there are plenty of club players doing that sort of weight, so it's nothing special
Beast
Not teally impressive for s 17 stone professional athlete supprised the coaches let him lift that with no wraps
The rhino ❤❤❤
I was a 95 KG full back. Played non 1st class and repped 200 KG for 3.
This is extremely average for an international prop.
Blimming amazing ellis keep it up
Maaate he looks lean as fuck! Absolute BEAST!
Waiting for Anatoly😂
Not great for a professional rugby player

Gengy is looking trim, he’s definitely lost a bit of bulk, whether that’s apart of the plan or not… still a strong lift and player !

Good work boys, get bigger, get stronger, get faster, 💪🌹🌹
You going to have go bigger to beat the boks .
Natural guy. There are 75kg men squatting 200kg for 3 in my gym.
My lad squats 260. Weighs in at 100kg.
Fair play to Ellis George.
Come on England

Keep up the great work champ , you got a young blood coming for your position , he folded you like a deck chair 💯 cant let that happen again!
I wish these videos existed when we had the likes of Andrew Sheridan in the team! 👌🏻
Unit and a half

Pay for that when you're older if you do it too often.
England's forward pack you can bet they bench heavy as well
Genge needs to have a look and weep at Andrew Porter doing 8 230k reps
Went to school with his old man plus beat his team Knowle Talbot 2-0 in the GFA cup final 1995 at Bitton
And still gets turned upside down by the bok forwards 😂😂❤
This shows technique is key in the front row!!!
Cracking shape for a front rower
Springboks team does 400
200kg for 2 smooth reps is superb, for anyone…let alone a guy who uses it as an accessory… 💪
He should now challenge Andrew Porter…
Risk vs reward,
200kg high bar, naked knee squat for a double is good. fair play to him.
What a beast

The way his eyes go black may be the scariest thing ever apart from when Jonny kicked that kick
Careful you'll shit a kidney pulling faces like that🤣
Hawt 🔥
Much better depth than I've seen from a lot of other pro rugby players
Great effort, just use a rack with better safeties. See if he back drops 200 kg it's going to blow his buddies elbows out
All blacks ⚫️ props are hitting 250kg+ squats like nothing.
