So I bought a very small Miyata on/off-road Roadrunner with the seatpost stuck. I managed to corrode the aluminum tube enough to finally pull it out. This process, however, destroyed the paint.

I did a full repaint of the frame and added an old Miyata logo, plus put Gudetama on there for that extra hint of Japan. I wanted a painted-on feeling (not stickers) for the graphics, so after a lot of thinking, I came up with the idea to print on tattoo paper and then spray K2 clear coat over it. It actually worked pretty well! Although the paint is very soft.

This project has been so much fun, and I love the bike—even if it’s very small!

I know I’m using V-brake levers with cantis, but I think it actually works really well. Also, I think there’s one link too many in the chain. And yes, I’ve tried to get rid of that damn spoke guard—haha—but the cassette is *reeeeally* stuck (or I need to work out more).

Most of the parts are from the original bike and some others, except for the handlebar, rack, and right-side shifter. I think I’ll do some upgrades as time goes on—maybe a higher bar to save my back and a more comfortable seat.

  2. Very cool! Like the color of the fork in contrast to the white.
That chain guard may be brittle enough by now to break off bit by bit with bird-nose pliers and be removed. It’s a rough way to do it but that’s how I usually do it because I’m lazy like that.

  3. That is a beauty. I love everything about this build. In regards to the cassette, have you tried a breaker bar yet?
