day two at the Dolphiner was another big day would it finally be a day for the sprinters day one had supposed to have been that but even Vingigore and Pugatcha ended up wearing those leaders jerseys with the latter having taken the stage win sprinters thwarted on day one this is what awaited the riders on the second day of the race 205 km almost give or take a few hundred meters remila to Isa venue for a stage win at the tour to France by Po Bilbao a few years before over 3,000 m of climbing to be done a tough day up and down on plenty of rural roads in the Puom demo adding the distance to the equation and one passage of the finish line before coming back for a final lap four riders were up the road after spent the first half of the stage there he’d been joined by three friends in the King of the Mountains jersey making it two breaks out of two it was a nice day for Yonas Vingor in the Green Point jersey looking after it for Pogachar andy Lrek alongside Alpacas Kernik controlled most things all of the day machop Paul had been on the podium he was looking this time to exchange that for a win but Jonathan Milan wanted to stop him pascal Akaman another of the sprinters there those in the breakaway after getting about a minute and a half of their best advantage started to see that advantage slip away victor Ganole was there to take the maximum points at the hardest point of the King of the Mountains competition but the jersey would remain on the back of the man who worn it having got out earlier in the day christian Yensen the other animator of the race at the front alongside Humul jonathan Milan just about being dropped to the top of the hardest climb with just over 50ks to go but he had plenty of teammates with him and they would work hard to try and make sure they brought him back yensen and Gelik stayed at the front for a while that is Combo and Osan were retaken milan just about losing contact with 55ks to go but as we mentioned several riders would drop back and work hard to bring Milan back to the bunch that despite pressing on from Alpacas to Kerning and a barrage made to ensure there were no cars to come through alpacosine really pressing on in fact 80 plus ks an hour on the descent but little trek making contact with 46 kilometers to go there were 45.3 to go when the rest of the break was reabsorbed milan back in the bunch time to make sure he could be there for a sprint finish one lap to go tare Pogacha well positioned became a bit of a UAE versus Visma battle in terms of having the best position for the rest of the stage nils Plet getting into a bit of an altercation with Pest Tran Hagen is on the way and pinch point after pinch point this particular one over the bridge leading into the final classified climb of the day the Kud Nunit a local climb to Ruman Baldi the rider riding his final race as pro would then try to surprise and shock with 18.9ks to go he’d attack he looked around a couple of times but nobody seemed to be going with him could it be the mightiest of mic drops for Baldi he got to 10 seconds with 18ks to go that gap again group at one point reaching 21 but with just under 12ks to go it was coming back uae and Vizma continuing to fight for those positions with 9.7 km of the stage remaining baldi was brought back one uncatategorized rise remain and everybody would be fighting for those positions inside the final threeks it would take until the final just outside kilometer when the lead out started le doing it consni playing an earlier role at this point then it would be Stan who would take them into the final turn edward turns starting the lead out riders fighting for wheels behind elbows shoulders all sorts of altercations 250 to go milan is ready to go it’s turns with a final lead out there is Milan on the left hand side jonathan Milan going up the line up ahead inside you’ve got on the right hand side coming around is Matthew Fool fool’s gaining but it’s Milan all the way and for the first time in his career it’s a road race win on French soil for mighty Jonathan Milan and they loved it they absolutely loved it leelle with a very big bit of work towards the end and great race management throughout the stage former teammate Fred Wright hung on to the wheel to get second third place went to Matcha Fool and Milan had what he came for as well as a stage win he’d also take over the race lead from today that ensured that the Dolphin’s record of never having had a leader from start to finish would continue milan Wright Fondonder Fredim and Penet all in the top five the big Italian on the podium he’ll be hoping to do that at the biggest of races at the tour in just less than a month’s time he leads the Doflit level on time with Paul Gachad father Paul’s third two seconds with right fourth alongside Vingigore on fourth [Music] a handshake and a smile as he met Vanel Tuvni on the podium jonathan Milan in the yellow jersey going into stage three and this is what stage three looks like yes again there’s the distance there 207 km leaving Briud hometown in terms of birth of Baldi a more difficult start climbing from the beginning and again plenty of traps for the sprinters should they wish to try and have their fun once [Music] more the stage finishes in Shahon up and down plenty of chances you can watch it all on TNT Sports

  1. Bardet always throwing these kind of hopeless attacks. But the few times it worked, it was very entertaining racing. Of course this one, no one can blame him for throwing one in.

  2. The yellow jersey integrated with rainbowjersey and bike is the final boss and ultimate flex😅 Pogi just next level in his own league.

  3. Bit of a spoiler there mentioning Milans name so many times during the highlights, making it easy to guess who won the stage.

  4. I remember back in 1975 when Bernard Thevenet won the Dauphine then went on to beat Merckx in the Tour. I’ve taken a special interest in it ever since seeing it on the Ventoux in 2007 and Alpe D’Huez in 2010. I was really hoping to see it again this year at the time trial but ill health got in the way.

  5. The 1hr+ highlights on Discovery plus are a joke advert after advert hardly any actual coverage – get more cycling on this reduced highlights.
