This bike will be doing a little bit of everything, down hill, trail, jumping, park. I am coming from a BMX back ground, and looking at this Specialized Stumpjumper 15 comp and the Transition Patrol Carbon GX. The Transition is a mullet setup, which I am told I may like more, since im coming from a BMX bike, also the Transition is on a good sale at my local store, marked down from $6,699 to $4,499. While the Stumpjumper is $4,999, I prefer the look of it and it has SRAM wireless shifter. They weight about the same, Stumpjumper comes in at 32.9 and the Patrol comes in at 33. Any input would be appreciated!

  1. Honestly, both bikes are pretty damn sweet.

You really can’t go wrong with either, in my opinion of course, so if you find that there are one or two more little things about one bike that you prefer then that’s the bike for you. Ultimately, the best bike is the bike you’re on in that very moment.

I know this doesn’t really help you pick, but I think you won’t go wrong either way.

FWIW, I loved my stumpy.. even though I broke my foot on it

And I’ve always wanted a patrol, but never owned one.

Again, not helping.. I know lol

  2. I’m a big fan of transitions, but these are both very good bikes. See if you can test ride them, even just around parking lot. One may fit you a little better than the other.

As someone who came from BMX/DJ, I’d vote Stumpy. The bike is super playful and always feels planted on the trail. T Type Transmission and Mavens brakes are both very nice.
