Footage from the Alpe D’Huez Tri 2024. Drone footage of the amazing French Alps!

[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] hello so we are finally back with another vlog this one is all about the outdoors Triathlon which I did on the 25th of July so almost a month ago now taking a good month to digest the pain that I went through that everyone else had to go through because of me um but Beth was out there with the Drone so she got some pretty cool footage of of all the climbs and the Alps and just of me not having a very nice day and dying I did a little bit of a race recap towards the end um it was just an insane day the amount of climbing and the scenery is insane it’s second to n it was just incredibly hard hope it gives a bit of an idea to what the outdo Tri fun is all about and it’s definitely one that I would recommend uh we did it as a big road trip so we actually went drove down to an toy first stayed there for a few days drove up to the Alps and then on the way home we were actually fortunate enough to go and watch the Olympics which again was incredible so we made a real road trip out of it family also came down to meet us in the Alps me celebrating my sister sister’s 30th birthday so it was just a really nice family sort of vibe um sandwiched in with the hardest race of my life how you doing today here we are up up natural time we just for our dinner and now we are looking at the up finish L and now we’re find C woo [Music] we need your we need youry so the swim was in Lake verie which was just incredible you can’t actually swim in the lake apart from the triathon every year um I knew at this point that it was going to be the coolest that would be all day because the temperatures hit about 38° it was a little bit manic though if I’m honest so it wasn’t a mass start it was a rolling start um but there were only three boys is out so the course is like 2.3k 2 just over 2.3k so about 2.4k and there is literally a boy when you get in a boy like a k down the the lake one across and then that one back so it was just an absolute freefor all when you first get in and because of how condensed it was it was very hard to sort of maneuver past people um considering my lack of swimming over the past four months I did pretty well I did all right um I think aage 136 pace which I was more than chuffed with but yeah as you can see here it is very condensed there’s a lot of people out there going all across the uh the lake and then it was onto the bike where you sort of have the thir switchbacks coming straight out of the lake and this is a really fast section this bit was fun it was after this bit the first called de laort of death which I think my soul is still [Music] [Music] [Music] there aome baby you’re doing really really well so hard I know it’s really hot you’re doing really well this this is top of the is a station you can do it take your time easyest good out well it’s really hot get ready to change the B over yeah it’s just the to almost love you doing really well so after a few more pep talks from Beth I carried on but I mean there were a good three or four stops after that and I was just so done um I just wasn’t fit enough for the monstrosity of the race and climbing and I just hadn’t put enough hours in on the bike all the Run um so it was a really really long day I think Before the Race I wanted to do the bike in sub six hours and I did finish it in 5 hours 40 but I had to stop a few times on the outdo and cry because it was just a really tough race and I put a lot of my pressure on myself to do it this year um but training had not gone to plan but I was just incredibly grateful to get off the bike which is unlike me cuz the bike is usually my favorite part but I just I was suffering I was suffering hard [Music] [Applause] [Music] w [Music] so that was the outdoors Tron the Run was at the top of the outdoors um it’s 1900 well I think 1800 meters above sea level so the altitude was I didn’t think it’d be a problem um but I just couldn’t run very fast it was very much a run walk it didn’t take me two hours but it took me very close to two hours to get it done it was three laps it’s a lot of trails it they do say that you can wear um Road shoes I did wear Road shoes and I was okay but it is it’s traily it’s quite technical you run down a big 20% um Airport runway at one point and then you’ve got to run through like a crazy golf course and it’s three Loops of that so it is very it’s hilly it’s like 400 meters elevation just for the run so a certain element of Fitness I think is required um I’ll put a little bit of my training stats I did this for sentiment reasons as my dad used to love cycling around the Alps it was his favorite place to go with my mom um and this year mark 20 years since he passed away so I just wanted to do something in memory of him um and when I started Tron four years ago the outdoes were sort of my creme crem it was my bucket list race it was one that I’ve always wanted to do and I felt like a few training years behind me um I’d be able to do it now obviously I’ve opened up a gym this year and and I’ve still I was still tennis coaching so life was just a lot leading into this it was hard it I just didn’t I would have enjoyed it more if I’d felt fitter but whereas I’m quite strong on a bike I was not and I just started going backwards halfway up the first time and it was just a mental I think I’d put pressure on myself not to do well but just to complete it um but knowing that you’re not very fit going into one of the toughest like 70 points threes in the world is it was a mental lag obviously super chuffed to have completed it it was just a relief when I finished it was great to have my sister out there my mom my little niece and James um and Beth obviously because of the sentimental string strings to it I was quite emotional you I was once I got into the Run I’d be able to complete it no matter how slow or long it took but it was um yeah it was just a bit of a mess about it all very that it’s over very glad that I’ve managed to take it off this year um all in memory of my dad and I think it could have gone two way so I could have either been like oh my god I’ve never doing another Tri one again but it’s actually done the opposite and I feel quite motivated motivated now to actually do some training so that is the plan going forwards um overall outdo Tron as I said it was a massive bucket list race for me and I’m really glad that I’ve done it I’m not sure I would ever do it again at the moment still been a month and I’m still not sure I would definitely go over there to do cycling and and have a training there but it’s tough yeah overall great race good day out good day out you pass over there say hi to the Vlog hi [Music] YY hey hey hi what do you think of the outdo TR it was very hot for us we were very tired we just likeing on our bik it was all right for us we just we were very tired all day very hot and sticky and when we when we give a those of incoris didn’t I’m the r i
