I splurged on a new 2025 GMC Acadia (Denali). I was scrolling through settings on the infotainment screen and super happy to see this “feature”.
I can’t ride anymore due to some spinal cord damage (not a cycling injury) that left me with limited use of my hands and lower legs. I was a longtime cyclist and was always hyper aware of situations like this.
I haven’t seen how it works in practice (hopefully well). I would love to see safety features like this on more vehicles in the future. Curious if anyone has a different vehicle that has similar features? Tesla maybe?

Is it on or off by default?
I wish it weren’t an optional feature, but rather like a backup camera: required for all vehicles.
Thank you for opting in.
I’d love to see that being aware of a cyclist is a baseline requirement for having a driver’s license.
