I just took this on its first ride today, what a fun and lively bike. It started as a Reynolds 520 steel Jamis frameset and I’ve been collecting parts here and there for a specific theme: all black components with an accent of gold.

Wheels & Tires: Ginger Gravelking SS on Velocity Deep V’s laced to Deore hubs and gold Haro skewers.

Brakes & Drivetrain: Campagnolo Mirage Ergopowers braking on Tektro Mini-V brakes & shifting Deore derailleurs through a Jtek with 46-30 hollowtech 2 cranks and a 12-32 9 speed cassette.

An older FSA Compact drop bar on a Deda stem pair up with a WTB Shadow saddle for good control and comfort while a gold Tange headset and Wolftooth seatpost clamp add a touch of color.

It’s been a while since I’d done a frame up build and I’m glad it came out good. I know we all love our coveted Bridgestones, Miyatas, and Kleins but there’s nothing wrong with an old Hybrid Jamis…

Jamis is like Univega; a great bike with no pedigree. They’ve always been a distributor, not a constructor, and additionally, neither company fielded factory racing teams (although I’d assume there were privateer entries).

Anything that can fit 40c and up while accommodating drop bars is sweet. It looks quick.

While it’s nothing special it’s nothing to scoff at. Solid choices everywhere.

    Yeah. IFWI.

How many mms are those pretty tires.

  3. Extremely underrated platform in both rim and disc versions. I always recommend them to friends just getting into cycling. Also helps short folks as the frame comes in some very small sizes but still with 700c.
